After meeting with best-selling author Patricia Cornwell, Angelina Jolie has agreed to star in an adaptation of Cornwell’s books whose main character is the opera loving medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta. Fox 2000 is acquiring the screen rights to Cornwell’s series of novels that center on Scarpetta.

Cornwell has written 16 Scarpetta novels, which gives the film the opportunity to turn into a franchise, but the first film will not be based on one specific Cornwell title.

Once Jolie confirmed that she was interested in the series, her agency, ICM, and Fox 2000 representatives negotiated for months to come up with a plan acceptable to Cornwell, who was extremely protective of her literary property. Eventually, Jolie and her manager met with Cornwell and agreed to a shared creative direction for the feature film.

The latest Cornwell novel, titled simply Scarpetta, was released in December 2008 by Putnam.

Jolie is currently starring in the movie Salt, directed by Phillip Noyce for Columbia. She is also set to once again lend her voice to the Tigress character in a sequel to Kung Fu Panda, and is considering a yet-to-be-written script for a sequel to the movie Wanted.

Having conquered the worlds of music and film, multitalented star Beyonce says she wants to work on Broadway in a few years. The star is busy promoting her new movie Obsessed, and in an interview in New York, she said she would love to settle down, have children, cut back on touring, and make her debut on Broadway. The more regular working hours would be an added bonus, she told Reuters.

In her new movie, 27-year-old Beyonce plays Sharon Charles, a woman who takes on a stalker. But the stalker isn’t after her, but her husband. This is Beyonce’s first non-musical movie role in a while. In recent years she had singing roles in Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records.

Besides promoting her movie and dreaming of starring on Broadway, the singer is also beginning her I Am … world tour in Croatia. She’s sold more than 50 million albums all over the world, and the tour, she says, is “really theatrical.” All her hit singles will be featured in the tour.

The only recent glitch Beyonce has had to deal with lately is a doctored video that popped up on YouTube, purportedly featuring un-altered audio of a very off-key rendition of the song “If I were a Boy.” The creator of the video recently admitted that he doctored the audio to make it sound bad, and removed the video from YouTube.

You can’t always take what you see on the runway and wear it on the street since most of the designs are a little unpractical. As much as we wish we could, we’re not that daring and let’s face it, most of us don’t look like skinny 6 foot models. So we just have to look at the hottest runway designs for this year and incorporate that into our own personal look. Here are some of my favorite runway looks so far:

Designer Catherine Malandrino created this sexy business-like ensemble and you can pull this off too with a longer skirt and a silky ruffled top.

Kenley Collins designed this beautiful bright floral dress. You can recreate the look by pulling on your favorite floral dress for spring with a pair of flats.

Gucci created this colorful ensemble and it is my absolute favorite that I’ve seen so far this year. This is a very easy look to recreate because it’s not over the top and you can definitely wear this on the street without any worries.

Another exquisite creation from Kenley Collins. Again, you can adopt this look by pairing a pretty black skirt such as this one with a ruffled neck top (obviously, not as ruffled as this one), but if you think you can pull it off, even better!

Top 10 Spring Fashion Trends

With spring already in tow, we’re seeing a lot of new and different styles gracing the covers of magazines, the catwalks and of course, the streets. So here are the top 10 spring fashion trends to watch out for this year!

1. Asymmetrical Tops and Dresses

Everyone looks great and asymmetrically cut garments, so I was excited when I saw so many designers had opted for this look. This spring, go for asymmetrical skirts, dresses and tops.

2. White Dresses

Show your inner goddess this spring by replacing your LBD with your LWD. Instead of the simple LBD though, go for sheer and frilly white dresses that scream elegant, playful, and feminine.

3. High-Waisted Everything

If you can pull off the high-waisted look, kudos to you! Unfortunately, I’m not a big fan, but I still appreciate the look of it - on those that can pull it off of course. This spring, go for everything high-waisted from shorts, to pants to skirts.

4. Jumpers

Pantsuits and shortsuits are in, aka jumpers, so don’t be afraid to try this trend just make sure you don’t pull them out of your 80s closet. This time, jumpers are a little more drapey and simple than you might have remembered them back in the day.

5. Sheer Fabrics

Sheer fabrics are super feminine and elegant and this season you’ll see them everywhere! Sheer tops and sheer dresses covered the runways, but on the street, please make sure you wear a light tank or slip underneath a sheer garment.

6. Harem Pants

Again, if you can pull these babies off, wear them! If you’re not very thin though, these pants might make your hips 10 times wider than they actually are, so I would suggest putting those aside for now.

7. Cleopatra Styles

And now we travel back in time to Egyptian fashions, like Cleopatra’s. You’ll see tons of jeweled necklines and gold accents.

8. Bohemian

Bohemian styles are making a comeback yet again, and I have absolutely no problem with that! Go for peasant blouses and skirts, flowery prints and loose-fitting garments to get the look.

9. Lots of Color

As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, color is the it thing this season. Think bright, tropical hues such as green and mango.

10. Bows and Ruffles

If you’re a girly girl, you’ll love this one. Bows and ruffles are coming back like nothing else and they’ll be adorning everything from dresses to accessories.
